Nxt-Era - More Than Football

Directed by Chaney Carlson-Bullock and Mikayla Litevich (USA 2022, 37 min)

Coach Mick Brunache founded Nxt Era Panthers, a nonprofit football program that goes beyond football and creates a supportive community for Boston youth. In this documentary, we see Mick's leadership and commitment to mental wellness. While Mick is not a mental health professional, he is constantly striving to better himself and serve as a positive role model for the kids and ultimately provide them with the resources he never had. He does that by challenging the historical stigma in his communities around expressing emotions, teaching kids solid principles that help them succeed in life in a culturally acceptable way. We watch as Mick leans into his network with local individuals and brands, including Concepts, The Dropout Academy, Play Program, Open Run Inc, and more. He leads by example and shows how the social connections that these kids are making now will guide them in their futures.

LINE UP UPDATE: Snow Money, directed by Kristin Chin (2022, 13 min), will not be screening in this block.
